# oAU Redemption

<figure><img src="/files/PJDuos3JvtcY082RobCe" alt=""><figcaption><p>Redeem, hold, or trade oAU. Each token represents a unique opportunity to purchase AU token at a discounted price.</p></figcaption></figure>

#### **How does a user exercise oAU?**

For example, let’s say a Legionnaire has 1000 oAU as a reward from their performance in the Salt Wars. They can pay 500 AU worth of MNT to redeem 1000 AU. In this scenario, the effective yield is 500 AU.

*Note: oAU uses a time-weighted average price oracle so you should take care when redeeming by checking the market-sell price of any redeemed AU before finalizing any redemption if you plan on recouping your purchase cost.*

When redeeming, the amount paid to obtain your $AU, called a premium, would be used to either buy back AU or to pair with AU in the treasury to deepen liquidity.

#### **Contributing to a more robust and sustainable ecosystem**

Through the implementation of oAU, Aurelius can route [substantial fees to AU stakers](https://www.aurelius.finance/au-staking-coming-soon-on-aurelius/), promoting sustainable growth, and even those who farm and dump indirectly support the token and deepen liquidity while redeeming their rewards.

By adopting oAU, you not only benefit yourself but also contribute to building **a more robust and sustainable ecosystem** on Aurelius.
